Dog Park Etiquette-Tips for Enjoying the Dog Park

Carson City wants a Dog Park

Recently, dog owners that regularly attend the off leash area at Fuji Park have been circulating a petition for a fenced dog park.  Carson City currently does not have a dog park but many dogs can be found in the afternoons enjoying the off leash area at Fuji Park. There will be a meeting with the city's Parks and Recreation staff in the community center on May 12, 2008 from 5:30-7pm.  The citizen's would like an off leash area to separate the dogs and children that both use this park. Beware of Dog Fights

Dog parks sometimes get owners who do not want to control their dogs.  Lately, there have been some groups of pit/pit mixes in the Sacramento area causing fights at the dog parks.  Animal Control in the area was notified of the 5 fights in the past 2 weeks.  Whenever you are at the dog park you should have an eye out and be watching your dog.  There are two parks where more fights have been recently in Partner Dog Park and San Combs Dog Park.  We have been informed that in general most injuries occur when small dogs are in the large dog areas.  All cities have

Oakwood Dog Park Water Rationing

The city without warning has recently turned off the water at Oakwood Dog Park due to water conservation in the area.  Owners are encouraged to bring water from home for their dogs and the community bowl by the local community dog group.  If you have thoughts on this the best thing to do is contact the city.  The city said when the water situation in the area is a little better they will turn the water back on..

"Greenest" Dog Park?

Jackass Acres K-9 Korral claims to be the greenest dog park.  It is currently brown but soon will be getting pre-owned astroturf from a stadium.  They have used green methods for preparing the dog park.  They will also be installing solar power to run lighting and supply all electricity to the park.  Everything used including the benches, fencing, and artwork is all recycled material.  They even hope to recycle the dog droppings into use able form.  Do you think this is the greenest park?  Click

Dogs Drink Antifreeze at Florida Dog Park and Get Very Sick

A vet confirms that the dogs that are coming in sick have been drinking anti-freeze.  Pet owners believe they drank the chemical while at the dog park. One dog died and several others are terribly ill.  It is always best to watch what your dog ingests while at the dog park.
